Valentine's special...

Valentine's Day has always been a little extra special around my house growing up, because, it is also my parents' anniversary. :o) Now, I am all about tradition, and making memories. One of my most lasting memories has always been our celebrations each year. I'm pretty sure we can thank my oldest sister for getting this one started, but each year we've "surprised" my parents and made dinner.

This isn't just any dinner of course, it's like a 15 course meal, and bless my parents for being patient...it is NEVER on time! I don't think it ever matters what time we begin, but it's usually 7...8...9...o'clock by the time we sit down to eat.

If the phone rings during dinner, my Mom will inform the caller that she is enjoying her "romantic candle light dinner for 14" (though this number has jumped over the years), and yes, there really are candles...but romantic? Well...maybe not so much. :o)

Well, tomorrow marks 32 years. I went grocery shopping for "the meal" after work today, and I am passing the torch of dinner making privileges to my younger siblings to carry on. This year, I get to be a guest, unless of course they're running late!
