A picture is worth...

a thousand words.

Beautiful, wonderful, crazy, fun, awesome, rare, priceless, memory, unique, interesting, amusing, exhausting, overheated, and amazing.

All words I would use to describe these photos. My Mom requested a family photo for Mother's Day this year. This is NO easy task! So though we are a week late, we have fulfilled her request.

With this result...

I am a VERY happy photographer today! :o)

Mother's day...

Mother's Day is 1 week away! I wanted to let everyone know about a few specials I am running this month in celebration of this special day. The best part is, you don't have to be a Mom to take advantage of them!

And just so you know...all you have to do is book your session in May, the session itself can take place anytime this year (or 2013 for newly expectant Moms)! So feel free to plan ahead for family portraits, that special birthday or milestone, baby-to-be, or 'just because'. :o)

Buy 1 get 1 free...

So I started writing this particular blog post in my head about 6 months ago. Sounds crazy, I know, but it gives a little more background not necessarily about my love of photography...but my love of {children}.

I have {always} been a baby lover. As far back as I can remember. I don't remember when my younger brother (next in line of birth order) was born, but everyone from my first little sister, to my last little brother...memories. I wasn't one to play outside, help dad build things, or get dirty. I was a definite girly-girl...but not prissy. I was a Mama's helper, and by all definitions, born to be a baby lover.

Sometime during my Mom's pregnancy with my {first} little sister, I decided it was perfect for her to have twins. I don't know where this obsession came from, but I tried to convince her that it was the best time. You see, being one that never found out the gender of her babies, she has a boy and girl name picked out. Both initials were "LJ", so naturally, a great reason to have twins, right? Well obviously it doesn't work out that way. Three siblings later...and both "LJ" names assigned...

I remember like it was yesterday. My Mom had taken us to my aunt's house so she could go to her doctor's appointment. I {remember, baby lover!} desperately wanted to see her sonogram. I was the last on climbing into the van, and was begging to see it. She kept telling me she wanted Dad to see it first. ::Closing the door:: I ask: "But Mommy, is it twins?!?".

That evening, my Dad sat on the couch and started to show us the sonogram. He pointed and said "see, here's the baby's head...and body...and feet"....."and here's the other baby's head..." ::squeal::!!!! I don't know that I've ever been so excited in my life! haha My Mom told me that earlier that day all she wanted to do was turn around and yell "Yes Kristin, it is twins, are you happy now?!?!?!?!".

Yes Ma'am I am!

So, it's my "fault" that there are twins in my family....it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact they run on both sides of my family. But either way, I was thrilled.

Hard to believe it's been nearly 18 years since my twin brothers were born! We used to joke around that Mom bought 1 & got 1 free. (I'm sure the hospital bills begged to differ). I finished up their senior pictures today. If I thought doing photos of 1 graduating sibling was bad, 2 is no walk in the park! But they wouldn't be my brothers if they didn't give me a hard time, right? :o)

Well, take a look. :o) Feel free to comment below, I love getting feedback!

Yeah, I nearly took their phones away!

Trying to crash his brother's photo, and I can promise this will be Mom's favorite! :o)

"Let me jump on your shoulders!"

Love this one. :o)

Ready to take on the world, with all God has in store for them. :o)

6 months...

Yet another 3 months have gone by! Caleb was back in the studio for his 6 month session today. His Mama needs to quit blinking, because a repeat of 6 months and we'll be at his first birthday. He needs to slow down. :o)

I had so much fun capturing these images, he has a smile that literally melts your heart!

Take a look...

Love those eyes!

Milestones...

Milestones... I love photographing milestones! For those of you who may not be familiar, I am referring to capturing images throughout baby's first year. There are many ways people choose to do them, some like to capture it all...Maternity, Newborn, 3m, 6m, 9m, & 12m...while others will have them done for Newborn, 6m & 12m. There is no right or wrong way to do them, but I love looking back after baby's first birthday to see how he/she changed. It happens so quickly!

This little guy was in for his 6 month session today! I have already photographed their maternity photos & his newborn.

Isn't he adorable?

I love having the 'excuse' to see this cute face on a regular basis!

Introducing mr & mrs...

Last week I experienced many firsts. :o) First time needing a passport, first time out of the country (not counting Canada), first time para-sailing...and the list goes on. I spent the week at the RIU Palace Punta Cana. It was absolutely gorgeous there! It is an all inclusive resort, and let's just say I was a little spoiled by the end of the week. Mostly by the weather: I went from sunshine and 84 degrees, to 44 degrees and raining in less than 4 hours! ugh

Take a look:

Isn't it beautiful? I got up at 6:30am (yes, on vacation!) to get this without people everywhere. Definitely worth it. :o)

But I digress...

Last year when my cousin got engaged, I learned they were planning a destination wedding. At first, I'll be honest, I was a little disappointed because I wanted so badly to be at their wedding. I never considered the possibility of going until my Mom said "why not"? It took a moment before it set in, and I realized "why not"?!? I've never had the opportunity to do anything like this before, and I'm so glad I did.

They had the most perfect day for their wedding. All fears of "too much wind" were set aside as we were met with perfection that morning. "70% chance of sunshine" :o)

I have so many more photos, but here is a glimpse into their perfect day. I was honored to be part of it, and loved capturing each moment.

God Bless you both as you begin your lives together! I couldn't be happier for you. :o)

2 & 1/2 weeks new...

Today I had the privilege of photographing baby Austin. He is such an incredibly sweet baby, and at 2 & 1/2 weeks old, he was the perfect little model. :o)

Take a look at his sneak peek...
